1.  “Ex-CIA Chief James Woolsey handed down gag-order to 9/11 Firefighters

“[Lieutenant Fireman and former Auxiliary Police Officer, Paul Isaac Jr.] explained to me [Lavello] that, ‘many other firemen know there were bombs in the buildings, but they’re afraid for their jobs to admit it because the ‘higher-ups’ forbid discussion of this fact.” Paul further elaborated that former CIA director Robert Woolsey, as the Fire Department’s Anti-terrorism Consultant, is sending a gag order down the ranks. ‘There were definitely bombs in those buildings,’ he told me.”

The Woolsey gag order created an Omerta-like mob silence that Firefighters and Police Officers have had to deal with to this day. Imagine their anger, seeing their buddies disappear in explosions, fire and smoke. Imagine having to swallow that anger, that grief and humiliation, for the grand purpose of America sinking into the grizzly War on Terror in a matter of days. Imagine having to work on the pile at Ground Zero knowing what you knew.”

2.  “Depleted Uranium Weapons: Dead Babies in Iraq and Afghanistan Are No Joke

The big danger with DU is not as a pure metal, but after it has exploded and burned, when the particles of uranium oxide, which are just as radioactive as the pure isotopes, can be inhaled or ingested. Even the smallest particle of uranium in the body is both deadly poisonous as a chemical, and over time can cause cancer—particularly in the lungs, but also the kidneys, testes and ovaries.

There are reports of a dramatic increase in the incidence of deformed babies being born in the city of Fallujah, where DU weapons were in wide use during the November 2004 assault on that city by US Marines. The British TV station SKY UK, in a report last month that has received no mention in any mainstream American news organization, found a marked increase in birth defects at local hospitals. Birth defects have also been high for years in the Basra area in the south of Iraq, where DU was used not just during America’s 2003 “shock and awe” attack on Iraq, but also in the 1991 Gulf War.

3.  “A Rumsfeld-era reminder about what causes Terrorism

We can’t combat Terrorism by sending our military into Muslim countries.  Doing that only exacerbates the problem, since it inevitably intensifies the anti-American sentiment that enables and fuels the terrorist threat in the first place.  All of that is so basic.  It’s been empirically proven over and over during the last decade.  It’s not Noam Chomsky or Al Jazeera pointing out these basic truths, but instead, a 2004 Task Force handpicked by Donald Rumsfeld’s Pentagon to review and assess the Bush administration’s anti-terrorism efforts, principally the wars they were waging in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Undoubtedly, there is some small faction of ”Islamic radicals” principally motivated by religious fervor which will likely hate the West regardless of what it does, but — as the 2004 Pentagon-commissioned Report found — their most potent weapons are American policies that inflame anti-American hatred in the Muslim world, beginning with ongoing wars waged by the U.S. military in Muslim countries.  That’s so self-evident it shouldn’t require a report to document it, but since it seems to, here’s a very credible report that does exactly that.

As is to be expected, Rohde’s account contains widely divergent depictions of his captors — some are violence-obsessed religious fanatics while others “showed glimpses of humanity” to him.  As is clear by now, the Tablian are not monolithic.  But in all of Rohde’s accounts, there is one common strand:  fury towards the U.S. for invading and occupying their country, killing civilians, imprisoning people with no charges, and generally attempting to control the Muslim world.  There’s simply no way to continue doing that while decreasing the threat of Terrorism.  The only thing that can result is the opposite.”

4.  “The Republicans have become deficit hawks. It’s more phoniness from a party of phonies. They’ve decided to stake their political future on opposition to Obama’s agenda. It doesn’t matter what it is; they’re against it. Stimulus is bad because extends unemployment benefits and keeps the states on life support. The Republicans have a better idea; let’s build more bombs and slash taxes.

“We must be prudent and save the Republic from penury.” (That’s the GOP mantra) What utter hypocrisy. Mitch McConnell is the worst of them, a corporate toady without a trace of dignity.

Republicans talking about fiscal discipline is like a street-walker preaching about chastity. They have no credibility at all. During the Bush term, they doubled the national debt from $5.6 trillion to $11 trillion in 8 years, the biggest expansion of government spending in US history. All that’s forgotten; down the memory hole. Now they’ve found religion. How convenient.

5.  ” The Dollar Will Not Crash

World leaders and central bankers mutter about Fed policies, but do nothing. There’s been no resistance to the secrecy, the bailouts or the money printing. The bottom line is that the people in power really don’t want change. They just want to make speeches and blame America. It’s all just empty posturing.

What difference does it make if China and Russia are unhappy? Who gives a hoot? Toppling the dollar is going to take a concerted effort by people who truly despise the system, not the blather of malcontents who are simply envious of US power. Putin doesn’t want to change the “reserve currency” system, he just wants a spot on the Executive Board so he can extract tribute from emerging nations like the US has for more than a century.

The financial crisis hasn’t hurt the dollar a bit. The dollar isn’t getting weaker because people are dumping it, but because Fed chief Bernanke is managing its value downward to increase exports and reduce the true cost of household and financial sector debt. What doomsayers are calling a “crash” is really just part of the Fed’s plan.“
