1.  “FBI Claims To Review Hypothesis For Exclusive GPS Guided Autopilot Control Of 9/11 Aircraft

The following remarkable Air China auto-pilot GPS test flight was performed by the same systems scheduled to be contained by United and American 757s and 767s during the late 1990, including via retrofit:

“Guided entirely by autopilot, an Air China Boeing 757 jet last month snaked along a narrow river valley between towering Himalayan peaks … the airplane automatically followed the twists of the valley, descending on a precisely plotted highway in the sky toward a runway still out of sight … Using global-positioning satellites and on-board instruments, Naverus’ navigation technology pinpoints the location of a fast-moving jet to within yards … “You’re watching the whole thing unfold. The airplane is turning, going where it’s supposed to go … it’s all automatic.”"[14]

“For this RNP approach in Tibet, an Air China Boeing 757 was relying on dual GPS receivers, flight path computers and inertial reference systems … the aircraft we are on is equipped with Honeywell Pegasus flight management systems and Rockwell Collins multi-mode receivers.”[15]

“Operators of 757s and 767s may also choose to upgrade to the recently certified Future Air Navigation System (FANS) FMC (Pegasus), which is Y2K-ready and available. Service bulletins for the 757 and 767 FANS retrofit will be issued upon operator request.”

One interesting capability of the FANS FMC technology:

“”Dynamic Rerouting, meaning the ability of controllers … to change a filed routing once the flight is in progress … “[The] new flight plan with all new waypoints goes into the data link to the comm satellite and is then downlinked into the FMSes of the individual aircraft,” … “And ‘Wow,’ say all the old pilots, ‘Untouched by human hands!’” … Our [dispatch] computer uplinks a route into the FMS that is identified as ‘Route 2.’ [You're already flying 'Route 1.']“

Evidence of Precise Navigation
Contributing to the plausibility of precision automated control of the two aircraft striking the WTC, is the fact that each aircraft struck precisely the bottom regions of the only sections within each WTC tower only recently upgraded with thermal protection materials. This would suggest a clandestine relationship between the visually spectacular aircraft attacks upon the WTC and activity pre-September 11, 2001 within each WTC aircraft impact region, intended to initiate structural failure not generated by the aircraft attacks themselves and contribute to an appearance of structural failures caused by each aircraft impact.”

3.  “Former Insider Shatters Credibility of Military Commissions

On Thursday, I reported how retired Rear Adm. John D. Hutson, judge advocate general of the U.S. Navy from 1997 to 2000, had delivered compelling testimony to a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on “legal issues regarding military commissions and the trial of detainees for violations of the law of war,” explaining why the only valid forum for trials of suspected terrorists at Guantánamo Bay is the U.S. federal court system.

The lucidity and directness of Hutson’s testimony was in marked contrast to the amendments to the existing military commissions system – and terrifying asides about the use of “preventive detention” – that were proposed by Jeh Johnson, the Defense Department’s general counsel, and David Kris, the assistant attorney general in the Justice Department’s National Security Division, in response to legislation already prepared by the committee, which, it seems, will be presented to the Senate in the imminent future, even though it still allows (subject to certain restrictions) the use of information – I hesitate to use the word “evidence” – obtained through coercion and other information that is nothing more than hearsay.

The day after Hutson delivered his testimony, the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties Subcommittee of the House Committee on the Judiciary held a hearing on “Legal Issues Surrounding the Military Commissions System,” in which Lt. Col. Darrel Vandeveld of the U.S. Reserves, a former prosecutor in the military commissions, delivered what should, I believe, be the final word on the unsuitability of military commissions as a valid trial system “

4.  “It turns out that the secret CIA program that Leon Panetta cancelled, and which former VP Richard Bruce Cheney ordered hidden from Congress, was in fact an assassination squad focusing on al-Qaeda figures.

The problem with assassination teams is that they are extra-judicial. They are killing people who have not been proven to have done anything wrong. The long litany of mistakes that security organizations have made in recent years, targeting innocents, should form a legion of cautionary tales about just killing people. Maher Arar, for instance, might as well have simply been shot down like a dog as shackled and sent for torture by the Baath Party in Damascus. He was innocent. Murat Kurnaz might have as easily had two bullets put behind his right ear as to have been arrested and sent for “interrogation” to Guantanamo (this is the link for his book). Then there was that little Khaled el-Masri ‘oops’ moment, which would have been even more embarrassing to the US government if he had been shot between the eyes by a US government sniper. I could go on and on (the majority of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay now appears to have been clueless innocents, and Bush-Cheney appears to have wanted to sentence them to life imprisonment without a trial; they could have as easily just been shot on sight).

The only thing worse than impunity for crimes is a decades-long cover-up of those crimes from the American people. Complete sunshine on Richard Bruce Cheney’s misdeeds is the minimum necessary to work against them being repeated by the next administration.”

5.  “Did the Swine Flu Escape from a Lab?

National Public Radio notes that Professor John Oxford at St. Bart’s and the Royal London Hospital says that the 1957 H1N1 pandemic probably started when it escaped from a lab:

“We reckon now, in retrospect, it was probably released accidentally from a laboratory, probably in northern China or just across the border in Russia, because everyone was experimenting with those viruses at the time in the lab.” It was nothing malicious, Oxford believes, just some flu vaccine research that broke out of containment.

Similarly, Bloomberg notes:

Some scientists have speculated that the 1977 Russian flu, the most recent global outbreak, began when a virus escaped from a laboratory.

In 2005, scientists thawed out samples of the 1918 flu and tested it. A new study says that current swine flu is very similar to the 1918 flu, and that people who lived through the 1918 epidemic have immunity to the current flu.

Leading flu expert Adrian Gibbs believes the current swine flu may have escaped from a lab.

It is also interesting that 2 of the 3 other flu pandemics of the last century – the 1918 Spanish Flu and the 1976 swine flu scare – both started at military bases. Specifically, the 1918 flu started at Fort Riley, Kansas. The 1976 swine flu started – and never spread beyond – Fort Dix, New Jersey. It is unclear whether or not those bases conducted defensive biowarfare research.
